​ In 1941 two researchers ran an experiment on some kids in Philadelphia. They hung ultraviolet “irradiation chambers” in some classrooms. The devices emitted ultraviolet light around the top of the room, above the heads of the children.

They were testing to see how effective UV light was at killing germs – then a measles outbreak swept US cities. Their results were shocking.
