The Downtime-Optimized Conversion enhancement “Uptime Customizing for FI Conversion” became generally available with SUM 2.0 SP23 in May 2025, following its successful pilot in a large enterprise SAP S/4HANA transformation.
This article shares lessons from that implementation, where the capability was validated and refined across multiple project cycles, ultimately enabling a “>40 TB” system conversion and database migration including thousands of customer transports with just under 15 hours of technical downtime.
The post focuses on practical implementation insights, including architectural considerations, operational challenges, and optimization strategies observed during one of the earliest large-scale deployments of this technology.
