This is Corsair’s newest low-profile keyboard. And I really don’t like it. The Vanguard Air 99 looks like it might be a slightly smaller, slimmer variant of the Galleon SD100, with its show-stopping Stream Deck integration. And Corsair is certainly pushing that angle. But this screen here doesn’t work like a Stream Deck, it’s not even a touchscreen…so all it’s doing for me is draining the battery faster.
The Deck integration is all over here, on these buttons that notably do not have screens. They control a virtual Stream Deck on your monitor…which you can already do without any special hardware. And while the switches are nice, they’re not hot-swappable, because Corsair went with an optical design…that can’t do adjustable actuation, either. So you’re getting the worst of both worlds.
Combine that with a $260 US dollar price tag, and this thing just isn’t hitting any of my buttons. I’ve only had a week or so to use it, so I’ll be putting it through more paces for my full review on PCWorld. But my initial impressions are not great.
