Joule, our AI copilot, will now be available for all existing and new RISE with SAP customers, natively integrating into SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition. SAP Business AI in RISE with SAP
Aligning with SAP’s Business AI strategy, SAP launched the integration of Joule starting with Success Factors in Dec 2023. Now, Joule is available for SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud for RISE with SAP customers. Joule offers a navigational pattern helping in navigating to relevant SAP Fiori apps and letting the user work directly in the app’s web UI for new and occasional users without prior knowledge of individual SAP Fiori apps.
RISE customers will have the advantage of experiencing generative AI capabilities across SAP cloud ERP. All existing and new RISE customers will have access to Joule to quickly access apps, effectively gain insights on business objects, and speedily resolve user issues. There are a few prerequisites to access Joule on SAP S/4HANA quoted below:

Commercial Packages
As part of RISE with SAP offerings, entitlements are provided with different customer profile packages like Base Edition, Premium Edition, and Premium Plus Edition. Joule is accessible in all available packages Base, Premium, and Premium Plus for RISE customers. Joule will be accessible by all existing and new RISE customers fulfilling the prerequisites mentioned above to use capabilities. Joule and Generative AI will be part of the new SKU as entitlements under the Artificial Intelligence domain.
RISE Base Edition: Provides small organizations with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition functionalities with a lean setup
RISE Premium Edition: Enables organization’s business transformation supported by built-in AI capabilities into SAP applications, process automation, low-code business application development, and access to supplier networks.
RISE Premium Plus Edition: Extends premium by unlocking more AI scenarios, including sustainability solutions, and advanced finance capabilities.
AI has significant potential to accelerate business processes and optimize decision-making. Since AI is at the top of every enterprise’s priority list, we are constantly innovating to deliver more AI-powered business processes and bringing the capabilities of Business AI as an entitlement as part of the SKU for RISE with SAP. Generative AI capabilities are available for RISE Premium and RISE Premium Plus packages where respective AI units are available based on the package. RISE with SAP Premium customers are provided with AI units to pilot AI-driven innovations like SAP Cash Application, SAP Business Integrity Screening, and SAP Service Management.
SAP AI Unit is a single SKU. SAP’s AI use cases are commercialized as capabilities within a single SKU regardless of LoBs. All customers can license SAP AI Unit to purchase AI units but to be able to use specific AI capabilities, you need to fulfill the licensing pre-requisites.
AI units are like a virtual currency that allows you to consume a wide set of AI use cases across different LoB solutions within SAP which included Joule overages. AI units are based on annual subscriptions and are sold in a block of 100 AI units. The minimum block to purchase is 1 per year and must be used by the end of the year as all unused AI units will be lost if not consumed by the end of the year.
Commercials & Estimator
RISE customers will have entitlements of 2500 Joule messages per FUE per contract year free of charge to interact with SAP A/4HANA Cloud, private edition. Once the entitled number of messages is consumed and you are willing to continue accessing Joule, you can purchase additional messages with AI units SKU. A message is an electronic communication exchanged via the capability of cloud service. For cloud services like Joule, a user request, together with the corresponding response from Joule is considered as 1 message.
Customers can use the AI Unit Estimator to estimate x number of AI units required to run the selected AI capabilities and can request a quote from the estimator directly. After selecting the AI feature, the customer can add the number of transactions (in a block of 10,000) you would need for the selected AI feature. Cost estimation is automatically shown based on the selection and a quote can be created from the same page for the selected AI feature and the transactions based on the requirement.
Another way where customers can access the AI services is from the SAP for Me dashboard under the Portfolio & Products tab by selecting Business AI and activating the AI feature. The features are listed based on the SAP products they belong to, where customers can select whether to activate the feature or not. The customer has the option to view the consumption for the respective feature or calculate cost estimation for the feature by selecting an estimator for the respective feature.

SAP offers innovation adopter services to help you jump-start your projects with SAP’s latest products and solutions. SAP Early Adopter Care connects customers with products to help them simplify, innovate, and digitize fast.
