Adapting Launchpad App Descriptor Items via adaptation mode in Launchpad App Manager

Objective:

The purpose of this blog is to demonstrate how to modify the app descriptor items in SAP-delivered technical catalogs using the adaptation mode in the Launchpad App Manager.

The adaptation mode in the Launchpad App Manager allows us to modify the following fields:

Group of Fields

Field

Target Application Fields

Target Application TitleTarget Mapping InformationDevice Type – Desktop, Tablet, Phone

Tile Fields

Tile TitleTile SubtitleTile IconTile KeywordsTile InformationRefresh Interval in Seconds

 

Requirement:

The requirement is to add a ‘Tile Subtitle’ and ‘Tile Icon’ to the standard Fiori app ‘Customers Overview’.

 

Steps:

Now, let’s walk through the steps to achieve the desired adaptation:

Open the ‘Customers Overview’ app in the SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library and identify the Technical Catalog ID associated with the app

Open the SAP Fiori Launchpad Application Manager app, either directly or by using transaction code ‘/UI2/FLPAM_ADAPT’

         

Open the Technical Catalog ID ‘SAP_TC_CEC_SD_COMMON’

        

In the technical catalog, select the relevant SAP Fiori ID from the list and access the details view. You can search for it as follows

         

         

        

Switch to adaptation mode by clicking on ‘Switch to Adaptation Mode’.

         

To make changes to the relevant items, enter edit mode

          

Enter the transport request (TR) details and navigate to the Adaptation Tab.

          

         

Perform the required changes by checking the Adapt checkbox for the fields you want to modify. In this case, enter the details for ‘Tile Subtitle’ and ‘Tile Icon’.         To obtain the icon details, go to the SAP Icon Explorer and search for a suitable icon.          

 

Copy the icon details as highlighted in the screenshot below. These details will be entered in the adaptation view.         Enter the required details in the adaptation view as follows: 

Results:

Open the Fiori Launchpad and test the ‘Customers Overview’ app. All the changes you applied should now be displayed.
