Focused Build SP15: Improvements in Mass Change Operations Fiori Application

Estimated read time 9 min read

Introduction

We have released Service Pack(SP) 15 of Focused Build (ST-OST) earlier this month and as all ways with the new SP a lot of exciting and valuable features have been added to our Focused Build fiori applications. You can find more information about all the improvements in different areas of the Requirements-to-deploy process in the blog detailed out here.

In this blog post let’s discuss the enhancements which are delivered in Mass Change Operations fiori application (MCA) in detail.

Addition of Tester and Test Team for Work Packages and Work Items

Prior to ST-OST 15 the Tester and Test Team fields were missing from work packages process type and Test Team was missing from work items process type of Mass Change Operation application. This behaviour was not in sync with the My Work Packages and My Work Items generic applications. We have added these fields now in MCA in filter bar, result list table and mass change dialog sections. With the addition of these fields now it is possible to filter the result list table of work packages and work items by Tester and Test Team fields. It is also now possible to edit these field values directly in the result list table and also from mass change dialog. The download excel feature also supports these two fields now.

Also, both the Tester and Test Team fields are interdependent on each other by default. That means if a Test Team is selected and we try to search the Tester for the same work package or work item then only the testers which are part of the selected Test Team are returned. This behaviour is also extended to generic apps along with the Developer and Development Team fields. If you wish to switch off this interdependency between these fields then it can be done by setting the below two parameters in our AGS_WORK_CUSTOM parameter table.

FB_DEV_TEAM_DISABLE – Set this parameter with the value X for switching off dependency between Developer and Development TeamFB_TEST_TEAM_DISABLE – Set this parameter with the value X for switching off dependency between Tester and Test Team

Please note, once you switch off this dependency from the mentioned fields then it would apply for these fields across all process types in generic app, mass change operations app and requirements management app.

Date format harmonization

All the applications under the Focused Build Requirement-to-Deploy portfolio contain date fields in their screens. However, it was observed that the date values in these fields were displayed in different formats for different applications.

Respecting the Fiori guidelines, the date format for all fields has been harmonized across all the applications with SP15.

In the Mass Change Operations application, the users can now also search for Work Packages and Work Items by 2 new filters, Created at and Changed at. These columns are also a part of the result list.

Fields editability harmonization

One more new feature in Focused Build that enhances the editability of fields in the Mass Change Application and Generic Application. This update streamlines the management of Work Packages, Work Items, Request for Change, and Change documents by allowing fields to be editable under specific statuses and read-only under others. Most fields are managed through status-dependent customization. You can access this via:

SPRO->SAP Solution Manager->Capabilities-> Requirements Management-> Change Request Management Framework->Configure status-dependent UI element control.

Customization for Project and Wave: Existing UI elements are reused for project and wave customization. For all other fields, new UI elements are created with “/SALM” namespace. Currently these customization settings apply exclusively to the Mass Change Application and Generic Application.

For a comprehensive list of fields that can be edited under specific statuses, please refer to the Field Editability Matrix available on the SAP Support Portal. You can access it via:

Product Details -> Product Capabilities -> Functions in Detail ->Editability of fields in Mass Change Operations (xlsx)

This feature is designed to improve efficiency and reduce errors by providing the right level of control over your workflows.

Key Takeaways

Missing fields Tester and Test Team are added in MCA for work packages and work items with added dependency by default.Date and date range fields are harmonized across all the applications.Field editability is harmonized in MCA for certain process types to overcome the past shortcomings.
