Integrating Netweaver ≤7.4 Systems with SAP Forms Service by Adobe on Cloud Foundry

If you are planning to operate your Netweaver 7.4 systems with SAP Forms Service by Adobe until the end of the Netweaver’s Extended Maintenance in 2030, you might have encountered the problem that these Netweaver releases are only compatible with the SAP Forms Service by Adobe on BTP Neo, which will be sunset end of 2028. To make things worse, SAP Forms Service by Adobe on BTP Cloud Foundry is only compatible with Netweaver 7.5 and S/4HANA Foundation systems.

Does that mean that you have to upgrade to Netweaver 7.5 to use SAP Forms Service by Adobe after 2028?

Does that mean that you have to operate two instances of SAP Forms Service by Adobe in parallel (one on BTP Neo, one on BTP Cloud Foundry), if you have both Netweaver 7.4 systems and Netweaver 7.5 or S/4HANA Foundation systems in your landscape?

Fortunately, the incompatibility is only caused by the authentication mechanism. In this blog, we will cover the steps to integrate Netweaver 7.4 system with SAP Forms Service by Adobe on BTP Cloud Foundry by means of a middleware (e.g. SAP Integration Suite, SAP PI, or any other) that supports OAuth 2.0 authentication. This way, you will only need to operate SAP Forms Service by Adobe on BTP Cloud Foundry and you avoid an upgrade to Netweaver 7.5, if all you want is to run out the clock until your S/4 Transformation is finished.
