Having worked in the SAPUI5 team for many years, what could prompt me to now make a statement about how universal SAPUI5 usage is? While preparing some numbers for a business review, I was reviewing a heat map of where our customers are located and noticed a cluster at the bottom of the screen. With usage in Antarctica, we now have customers on all seven continents! The growth of SAPUI5 adoption among customers and partners matches its proliferation by solutions within SAP.

As the carrier of the SAP Fiori design evolution, SAPUI5 is the foundation of many SAP solutions such SAP S/4HANA since the beginning. Developers experience modern tools in SAP Build Code and frameworks such as SAP Fiori elements to efficiently develop and extend SAPUI5 applications. The combination of its power and ease of use is what drives its adoption both externally among customers and partners and internally across multiple development teams at SAP.
Now seeing uptake across different product lines as more development teams are realizing the value of using a standard approach across the company. While serving many SAP (and non-SAP) solutions, UI5 is modernizing itself at the same time, e.g. by introducing SAP Web Components to cover *all* Web technology stacks to boost adoption.
This reinforces the reasons why developers in SAP, our customers, and partners use it so heavily:
Consistent user experience across SAP solutions (and beyond).Hundreds of enterprise UI elements to build professional user interfaces for an enterprise context while complying to product standards such as security and accessibility. With SAP Web Components, an important new Web standard is utilized to extend UI5 qualities to all Web technology stacks.Flexible tools for any developer: SAPUI5 comes with a development environment and tools to efficiently build, test, and deploy apps. Both in pro-code as well as low-code ways.Powerful extension options: You can extend SAP standard apps with custom code and customize UIs without any coding effort thanks to SAPUI5’s integrated adaptation capabilities.
