A Clear Commitment to the Future

We’re excited to share some important news with our SAP BusinessObjects community:
Mainstream Maintenance is guaranteed until at least end of 2031. (Official SAP Analytics Statement of Direction (SoD).)

Following the successful delivery of BI 2025 in March 2025, with BI 2027 already planned, and a minor release planned to be delivered every 2 years, this announcement brings long-term clarity and continuity to our roadmap.

This announcement is a strong signal to all our customers and partners that SAP BusinessObjects continues to evolve. Many of you have made significant investments in your BI landscape, confirming its roadmap today means these investments are safe, supported, and ready for the future.

Plan Ahead with Confidence

Our commitment is simple: we want you to plan with confidence.

Having a roadmap visibility until at least end of 2031 for SAP BusinessObjects helps our customers secure budgets, define internal strategies, and align BI platforms with IT governance. This visibility also opens the door for meaningful upgrades and perspectives. If you’re still on an older version, now is a good time to move forward, whether it’s upgrading your on-premise system or migrating to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), for example.

BI 2025 brought significant updates and innovations, and these foundations will be further refined in future releases such the BI 2027 and next.

Use Cases That Matter

Since the release of BI 2025, we’ve seen strong momentum around enhancements that directly support real needs. Whether you’re using Web Intelligence, the BI Platform, or Crystal Reports, the focus has remained the same: simplify, modernize, and deliver trust.

In Web Intelligence, BI 2025 introduced dynamic dashboards, new layout plus interactive widgets, and the Web intelligence Document eXtract (WIDX) export format for offline sharing of interactive content. Business users can now build engaging dashboards without relying on the IT department. This makes it easier to share insights with teams or executives who need quick access, even without logging into the platform.

In the BI Platform, a more flexible upgrade path is now proposed. It also adds the ability to pin KPIs and charts directly to the homepage of the BI Launch Pad. This reduces change management efforts and provides faster access to critical metrics, ideal for operational monitoring.

With Crystal Reports, enhancements enable smooth migration from CR4E with better UNX and BW DSL support, easing transitions while preserving report logic. New database-side sorting and ranking improve performance when working with large datasets. And the redesigned Desktop Viewer boosts offline access and interactivity, ideal for casual or mobile users

Each of these features reflects real use cases: business users building interactive dashboards, IT teams managing large-scale deployments, or analysts delivering pixel-perfect reports for regulators.

Customers continue to rely on BusinessObjects for exactly this. These aren’t just features: they’re everyday scenarios where BusinessObjects delivers real value. We will build on this foundation, helping organizations do more with their data without changing the tools they already trust.
