The Amflow PL Carbon Pro e-MTB, featuring the insanely fast and powerful Avinox M1 drive system, is now available in the U.S. We put this $10,199 full-carbon machine to the test to see how it stacks up to other e-bike systems we’ve ridden. Short version? Our size large was impressively light at just under 45 pounds even with its 800wh battery.
In our month of testing, the system has been flawless, even under stresses of towing adult MTB riders up the mountain behind us. The Avinox’s customizable features allow for exceptional fine tuning. While a nice touch, the anti-theft function on the bike was a bit inconsistent. The Amflow PL Carbon frame is solid and responsive, if not a on the tall side. While it won’t win any design awards and looks like a [insert many 4-bar frame designs here], it hides the big battery and motor nicely The components are up to snuff but the Magura brakes aren’t as powerful as we’d like and we do wish there was a bashguard to protect the chainring.
Keeping an eye on drivetrain wear will be key with so much power a a rider’s disposable. We imagine chains, rings and cassettes will wear out faster than usual with so much torque and so many watts ready to be harnessed on the trail.
