Unlocking SAP AI Foundation capabilities in SAP Databricks: A technical deep dive (2/2)

SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) is a fully managed SaaS solution that unifies and governs all SAP data and seamlessly connects with third-party data, giving line-of-business leaders context to make even more impactful decisions.

In SAP BDC, the Business Data Fabric provides capabilities and tools for the generation of a semantically enriched trusted data foundation underlying Intelligent Applications. Specifically, the two components that close the context gap between data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are:

AI Foundation is SAP’s AI operating system provides the means to build, extend, and run custom AI solutions and agents at scale. It includes the generative AI Hub in SAP AI Core, which is a rich set of AI capabilities (40+ and counting frontier AI models, orchestration etc.), for productive purpose, running on SAP Business Technology Platform.SAP Databricks combines advanced Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), data science, and engineering capabilities, with semantically rich data from SAP applications, in a pro-code environment.

In this blog post we explain how AI Foundation capabilities can be readily consumed in SAP Databricks, unlocking further potential, to generate AI-enhanced custom derived data products, for instance.

We demonstrate this through the example of SAP AI Core Orchestration Service, which provides harmonized access to a wide range of frontier AI models, and offers various configurable modules, such as for data masking or content filtering, that are executed in combination with the generative task of an AI model.

At the end of this blog post, you will have seen how a configured orchestration service can be exposed as an MLflow model, for fully integrated downstream processing in SAP Databricks.
