🚦Cutover time! Anyone who has ever brought a complex IT project across the finish line knows the feeling: countless tasks, multiple teams involved, everyone trying to tick off “their” to-dos – and in the end, you need a cool head to prevent the Go-Live from turning into a chaos.
This is exactly where SAP Cloud ALM comes in – your personal 🧭 navigator for the cutover. With Task Management, you no longer have countless Excel lists, email ping-pong, or annoying “Have you got…?” messages. Instead: a central platform where all tasks are neatly planned, assigned, and tracked. 🎯
I was also skeptical at first and had to gain experience first. But Noel Denzler, our experienced SAP Cloud ALM cutover expert, quickly impressed and convinced me. Today, it’s clear to me that I will only manage cutovers in an SAP project with SAP Cloud ALM.
👉What makes this whole thing so powerful?
Pure transparency: Everyone can see at a glance what needs to be done and where the problems lie. No more guesswork!
Centralized control: You’re the conductor 🎼 – and SAP Cloud ALM ensures your project orchestra stays in time.
Live status: Traffic lights, progress bars, and clear timing – so everything stays cool even during the hectic cutover phase. ❄️
Efficiency & security: Instead of gut feeling, there’s smart planning and traceability – for a drama-free Go-Live.
In short: With SAP Cloud ALM Task Management, your cutover is not only controlled, but almost… playful. 😎✨
Which apps and functions can be used?
The Overview app for centralized progress tracking. The Guided Implementation app is optionally available for guided task processing. The Tasks app serves as the core for cutover tasks. The Quality Gates app for synchronization points and as a insurance.
How to get started
Ideally, you should start early in the project with a central cutover list or directly with tasks in SAP Cloud ALM. This allows you to collect all tasks that will be relevant later in the cutover phase at an early stage.
Our cutover management expert, Noel Denzler, starts with Cloud ALM task review meetings for each subproject to collect, complete, and initially sequence all tasks. This allows for a consolidated upload of the tasks to SAP Cloud ALM.
Overview of the Cutover Tasks
It’s best to sort the list by start date and time.
Quality Gates as Synchronization Points and Assurance
Quality gates should be incorporated into the cutover process to synchronize tasks that must all be completed by a certain date. This ensures that follow-up activities only begin once the previous activities have been completed.
In addition, the quality gates, with targeted checklist items, serve to review the work completed up to that point and ensure that nothing has been forgotten and that the work has been completed to the required quality.
The Success Factors
