Introduction
In today’s fast-paced business world, not every process follows a straight path, or even connects at all. Yet, enterprises still need end-to-end visibility.
Enter SAP’s powerful capability in Process Visibility: the “No Correlation” feature.
Whether you’re managing HR workflows or procurement cycles, this feature offers flexibility to monitor and analyze non-correlated processes together — all within a single dashboard.
Why Does “No Correlation” feature Matter?
Not all business processes are tightly linked. Many operate in parallel within the same business domain but have no direct interaction.
Example:
Hiring vs. RetirementPromotion vs. Equipment Provisioning
They all fall under Human Resources, yet they function independently. Still, business leaders need visibility across all these activities, ideally through one Visibility Scenario dashboard.
That’s exactly what Process Visibility’s “No Correlation” feature enables.
Building the Foundation: Process Groups
SAP Process Visibility lets you group processes – correlated or non-correlated into Process Groups for better monitoring.
Two main configurations:
Correlated Processes (e.g., Hiring ↔ Equipment Provisioning)Processes are connected in sequence.Define connections between them within a process group.Non-Correlated Processes (e.g., Promotion Change, Retirement)Processes run independently but still need unified tracking.Create separate process groups and map common attributes to view them cohesively.
Note: A default Process Group is automatically created. You can edit or create new ones depending on your scenario.
Step-by-Step: Enabling Non-Correlated Process Tracking
Adding Process Participants:
In your Visibility Scenario Editor → Processes tab → Add the processes that need to either be correlated or not correlated, as process participants.
In this example, we have created a Visibility Scenario for HR Department. We are adding 4 processes as process participants – Hiring, Promotion Change, Retirement and Equipment Provisioning. In this scenario, Hiring and Equipment Provisioning are related processes, while Promotion Change and Retirement are independent processes.
Enable the No Correlation Feature
As we have processes that are not correlated, we will have to enable this feature.
In your Visibility Scenario Editor → General tab → Enable “Visibility Scenario to Include Non-Correlated Processes”
This unlocks side-by-side tracking of independent workflows.
Create Process Groups
Note: A default Process Group is automatically created with all the process participants. You can edit or create new ones depending on your scenario.
Example:
In this example, the default process group is updated with Hiring and Equipment Provisioning processes. As the process group contains more than one process, a connection is defined for these processes.
Then we create 2 process groups:
One group for Promotion ChangeAnother for Retirement
These are the independent process that are not related. For the individual processes, new process groups are created, one for each process. As there is only one process in each of these process groups, there no need to define the connection type.
Map Attributes for Unified Tracking
Once you’ve created process groups for your non-correlated processes, the next step is to unify how you view them. You can do them in the Attributes -> Context tab
Choose Map Attributes to map the attributes of the processes across process groups:
In the Map Attributes dialog box, select the Source Attribute and the Mapped Attribute from the drop-down list. You can map shared attributes like Employee ID or Department etc., The source attributes will then be visible in the Visibility Scenario Instances application and the Mapped Attributes are hidden.
You can choose Add Attribute button to map more attributes.
Choose Save.
This ensures all mapped attributes appear cohesively in your Visibility Scenario Instances application.
Finally release and deploy.
Business Value
Streamlined Monitoring: See all relevant processes, even if unlinked – in one dashboard.
Accurate Insights: Focus on meaningful groupings, not rigid process chains.
Scalability: Easily manage hybrid landscapes of connected and standalone processes.
Final Thoughts
The “No Correlation” feature in SAP Process Visibility is more than a technical enhancement, it’s a strategic enabler.
It empowers organizations to track and optimize processes the way they truly operate, not just how systems connect them.
Whether your workflows are integrated, hybrid, or standalone, SAP Process Visibility ensures you never lose sight of what matters most: business outcomes!
