One of the benefits of using SAP BTP ABAP Environment is that updates and upgrades are applied by SAP to the systems in quite a high frequency and close to the corresponding release time.

Major Upgrade Windows
As in 2025, the SAP BTP ABAP Environment will have 4 Major Upgrade Windows in 2026. These 24 hours of potential system unavailability are used to upgrade the systems to the next major version.
The events for the Major Upgrade Windows are harmonized between all SAP Cloud Products and scheduled for the following weekends:
February 14th – 15th (Release 2602)May 16th – 17th (Release 2605)August 15th – 16th (Release 2608)November 14th – 15th (Release 2611)
Depending on the data center region, the 24 hours downtime will start/end at:
MENA: FRI 1 am – SAT 1 am UTCAPJ: FRI 9 pm – SAT 9 pm UTCEurope: SAT 4 am – SUN 4 am UTCAmericas: SAT 10 am – SUN 10 am UTC

Weekly Maintenance Windows
Potentially every weekend, the SAP BTP ABAP Environment could use a downtime of 4 hours, to apply SAP HANA Cloud updates, Hotfix Collections and other changes.
Depending on the data center region, the 4 hours downtime may start at:
MENA: FRI 5 pm UTCAPJ: SAT 2 pm UTCEurope: SAT 9 pm UTCAmericas: SUN 5 am UTC
The planned schedule for Hotfix Collection imports after upgrade to release 2602 will be published by end of December.
Reduction of Planned Maintenance Windows
We introduced Downtime-optimized Upgrades and Hotfix Collection Imports for Production with release 2502. For the next steps about the Reduction of Planned Maintenance Windows for HFC Imports and Upgrades see our roadmap.
Prepare for 2602: Cloud Foundry CLI and CAPI
Starting with release 2602, the service broker for the SAP BTP ABAP Environment will switch to asynchronous processing for service binding and service key creation requests. This change will impact client applications using interfaces like the CF CLI and CAPI. Refer to Service Key and Service Bindings Requests will change to asynchronous processing for more details.
