2025: A Year of Community and Connection
The past year marked a major milestone as the Developer Advocate team celebrated six years of delivering content and engaging with the ecosystem on the SAP Developer YouTube Channel. A primary highlight for many was the return of SAP TechEd in full force, including the TechEd on Tour stops in cities like Berlin, Bangalore, and Sydney. These events brought the community together in the Developer Garage and Community Theater, fostering face-to-face connections that many felt were far more valuable than online interactions.
Technical Deep Dives and Innovation
On the technical front, 2025 was a prolific year for learning and enablement:
CAP & Node.js: We explored the “Art and Science of CAP,” Node.js plugin development, and deep dives into CDS modeling and status transition flows.
ABAP Cloud: The team launched the first ABAP roadshow across India and Southeast Asia, while also introducing “Good to Know” shorts and bite-sized tips for ABAP developers.
AI with Joule: Significant focus was placed on bringing AI to the ABAP world and showcasing Joule Studio and Joule agents on SAP Cloud for AI.
Integration: We saw the launch of the first Integration CodeJam across the APJ region and delivered deep-dive workshops at Mastering SAP and other global stops.
Community Engagement
Events like Devtoberfest continued to be a massive success, with the team coordinating four weeks of technical sessions and contests. It was also a year of personal growth and milestones, from team members returning from maternity leave to coworkers finally meeting in person after years of virtual collaboration.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move into the new year, the team is committed to evolving these discussions—moving beyond the hype to focus on mastery and best practices. Expect even more in-person CodeJams, new content regarding LLMs for ABAP, and expanded developer capabilities in Visual Studio Code.
