Although SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is frequently used for KPI tracking and interactive storytelling, business users frequently require access to these KPIs outside of the SAC interface. We examine in this blog how to safely acquire SAC KPI tile data using REST APIs and present it in a unique web application.
Using Flask, Python, and OAuth 2.0 authorization, this end-to-end tutorial shows how to retrieve widget-level KPI metrics (such numbers and titles) from SAC stories and display them in a contemporary, aesthetic web dashboard. This approach enables organizations to reuse SAC insights across external applications while maintaining SAC as the single source of truth.
