SAP PO to SAP Integration Suite Migration without migration tool (Basic Edition)

I’ve been involved in several SAP PO to SAP Integration Suite migration projects recently — and while the general idea sounds straightforward, things get tricky when the customer is using the Basic Edition of Integration Suite.

The biggest hurdle? No official SAP PO migration tool is available in the Basic Edition. That means we can’t just export ESR/ID content and convert it into iFlows with a few clicks.

To work around this, we dug into some R&D and came up with an alternate approach. While we still had to rebuild the iFlows manually, we were able to extract and reuse key artifacts like message mappings (XSLT/Graphical), data types, service interfaces, and even WSDLs from the PO system.

This saved us a lot of time — nearly 50% of the usual development effort — and gave us a repeatable method for future projects on Basic Edition setups.

In this blog, I’ll break down the steps, share tooling tips, and highlight what works (and what doesn’t) when you’re doing a PO-to-Integration Suite migration without the full toolkit.
