The Basic Trial offering for SAP Build has been extended with a new workbook called ‘Fusion Development with ABAP Cloud in SAP Build’. You can explore this workbook for the Basic Trial offering around SAP Build, that shows how developers can now create new ABAP Cloud projects, or work on existing ones, from the SAP Build lobby and then navigate to their ABAP development environment – the ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse (ADT).

Task 1 : Set up the Basic Trial account and add the ABAP instance in ADT.

Click the following URL:

In the following screen click on “Try Now”. 

You will receive a user with a password that will allow you to authenticate at the landing page of the basic trial in the respective region for your user, e.g. https://trials.cfapps.eu10-004.hana.ondemand.com/ .  

Basic Trial Registration

By using the credentials presented in the web page you will get access to some workbooks that cover different scenarios. 

The ABAP related workbook is named Fusion Development with ABAP Cloud in SAP Build.

Select the highlighted workbook.

Choose the Highlighted Workbook

Click ‘Start Workbook’

Note : It may take up to 30 minutes to fully activate your user account in the SAP BTP ABAP Environment. 

Read the details mentioned in Overview of the Section ‘Set up your development environment’. You can skip Step 1 and 2 if you already have ADT installed but make sure you are on the latest version of ADT for all the features to work fine. Once the installation is done directly move to Step 3 – ‘Create ABAP Cloud Project in SAP Build’ only until adding the basic trial instance to ADTWe will be it using the URL marked in the below screenshot.

Note:- Once you have the system added in ADT you can close the workbook.

Task 2 :  Create a package in the new ABAP Cloud Project 
Once you see the new ABAP Cloud Project (TDI ) added in ADT, create a package with the naming convention ZAC_<your community ID>.

To get the community ID launch the URL : https://community.sap.com/ and click on the person icon as shown in below screenshot and go to ‘My Content’.

Once the below page opens up please copy the number after user-id in the URL to get your community ID.

Note:- We will be validating your activities by checking the folder against your community ID. So make sure all your development objects are saved inside this package.

Task 3 :  Learn about the SAP Joule for Developers, ABAP AI Capabilities
