Lovely people, it’s been a while since we took a look at the State of the SAP BusinessObjects BI Upgrade in July 2025. The big news since then was the release of SAP’s February 2026 Security Note, which revealed four CVE in both SAP BI 4.3 and BI 2025. The good news was the note indicated that BI 4.3 SP5 patch 4 and BI 2025 SP0 Patch 8 would eliminate the vulnerabilities. What was unknown at the time is that both releases were affected by a clustering issue described in SAP Note 3724948, Publications fail / cluster communication fails after upgrade to 4.3 SP05 Patch 400 / BI 2025 Patch 800.
SAP BI 2025 SP0 Patch 9 was released on March 17, 2026, and SAP BI 4.3 SP5 Patch 5 will be available “any day now”, as its release has been delayed so it can include the clustering fix. SAP BI 2025 SP0 Patch 9 also restores Corporate Color Palette functionality for Web Intelligence and includes many other fixes across the platform.
While on the topic of security, there are still organizations trying to manage with SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.2, which has been out of patch support since 2022. Over the course of its lifetime, BI 4.2 was flagged with 38 common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE). Regardless of which patch level of BI 4.2 your organization is using, it’s likely to be affected by at least one of these and probably more. If you’re in this predicament, just a reminder that there is no ROI on a security breach. Be sure to review both the risks of remaining on BI 4.2 as well as the benefits to moving to BI 4.3/BI 2025 with your information security team.
Stay safe. Stay secure. And stay up-to-date, giving your users the productivity improvements available in the latest versions of the SAP BusinessObjects platform.
