AI coding agents have made significant progress in the last 6 months, completely transforming the role of developers: this talk covers some aspects of this transformation. Learning to manage teams of agents, working at a higher level of abstraction, the impact of AI on early in career developers and how to hire and train the next generation of developers, developing different hygiene and work habits to survive the AI fatigue that occurs when working with machines that go faster than human colleagues, never get tired, and never sleep.
