For all the whining I’ve done about Windows lately, I have to admit that PowerToys is officially awesome, and it comes straight from Microsoft. The latest version is .98, and it’s bringing some big improvements. The biggest one is a new Command Palette Dock ,which lets you pin some of your favorite commands to the side of the screen.
This space can hold things like a widget for your media, system resource monitors, and anything else that you can find in the standard Command Palette, with expandable options available in WinGet and the Microsoft Store.
I think it’s a neat idea, especially for power users. But right now it’s missing one crucial feature for me: an auto-hide, so it isn’t taking up space on my screen all the time. But the dock is in preview mode right now, so I expect more features will be added. Give it a try in PowerToys if you want to see what all the fuss is about.
