RAM is really expensive right now. Shocker. But what if I told you you could buy just one desktop memory DIMM, and a fake DIMM, just to make it look like you’re not living in a horrible nightmare of AI slop?

God, everything about 2026 just sucks.

Anyway, memory maker V-Color is now selling what it calls “1+1 value packs.” These are single sticks of DDR5 RAM, 16 or 24 gigs, paired with a dummy thick, sorry, dummy stick. These are just bits of plastic and LEDs that sit beside the real RAM just to keep it company, I guess.

Generally running a single stick of RAM is bad just because of the way double data rate works, but V-Color would like you to know that it’s 30 percent faster than it used to be on DDR4 if you have the right processor. Oh, and they’re not announcing prices for these value packs right now. But at the time this video was filmed, 16GB of DDR5 gaming RAM goes for around $200 USD.
