Hi Folks,
I am writing this blog after analyzing the issue in detail and discussing it with the SAP Product Team. I hope this helps others resolve the issue quickly and efficiently.
Issue Description:
We activated the standard Fiori application F1780 – Cost Accountant – Production in our S/4HANA system. However, after configuring the app in the Fiori Launchpad (FLP), the following error appeared directly on the application tile:
“CO Area is not set”
Additionally, when clicking the tile and attempting to launch the application, the system displayed a warning message and did not allow further navigation.
Analyzing:
During troubleshooting, we identified that the issue was related to the Controlling Area assignment in the Fiori Launchpad user profile.
SAP Note referenced:
2403512 – Controlling area is not set for the user in Fiori Launchpad
Based on the note, we maintained the Controlling Area in the FLP user settings/profile. However, even after maintaining the configuration, the same error and warning continued to appear.
Solution:
After further discussion with the SAP Product Team, they provided the correct resolution and created the following KBA:
3753053 – F1780: “Controlling Area is not set” error in Fiori Launchpad
As per the KBA, the issue can be resolved by maintaining the required parameter in transaction SU01.
Steps to Fix
Navigate to:
SU01 → User Profile → Parameters
Maintain the following entry:
SET/GET Parameter ID: C4C
Parameter Value: 8400 (Use your relevant Controlling Area value)
After saving the changes:
Log out from the Fiori LaunchpadLog in again
The error message on the tile will disappear, and the application will open successfully with the expected data.
After Clicking on the TIle, it will show the data
Conclusion:
The issue is not resolved only by maintaining the Controlling Area in FLP personalization settings. The crucial step is maintaining the C4C parameter in SU01 for the respective user.
I hope this blog saves time for others facing the same issue.
Please feel free to share your suggestions or additional findings.
Regards,
Rohit Gera
