SAP Datasphere News in July

Estimated read time 9 min read

Sunshine ?, summertime ️, and vacation period ?️ did not stop us and deliver feature rich releases in July. There are also lots of excellent new blogs in the community and top features on YouTube for July below.

My top features in July

SAP Cloud Transport Management system (cTMS) integration

You can now integrate SAP Datasphere with SAP Cloud Transport Management service on SAP BTP to transport content packages across different landscapes. SAP Cloud TMS lets you manage software deliverables between accounts of different environments, by transporting them across various runtimes. To transport your SAP Datasphere content through SAP Cloud TMS, you first must configure your SAP Cloud TMS system. Once you’ve configured the system, you must connect it to your SAP Datasphere tenant.
More information.

SCIM API

This API allows you to programmatically manage users using a SCIM 2.0 compliant endpoint. You can create, read, update, and delete users and add them to roles via the SCIM API. SAP Datasphere exposes a REST API based on the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM 2.0) specification. This API allows you to keep your SAP Datasphere system synchronized with your preferred identity management solution.
More information.

Elastic Compute Nodes

You can now get additional on-demand compute and processing memory called elastic compute nodes (ECN) in case certain views and SAP HANA multi-dimensional services (MDS) requests regularly require more resources than are available on your SAP Datasphere tenant. Just create elastic compute nodes, allocate the additional resources to them and schedule them to spin up to handle read peak loads. You can identify peak loads and monitor elastic compute nodes in dedicated dashboards in the System Monitor.

To purchase compute and processing memory for elastic compute nodes in the Tenant Configuration page. More information. To create and run elastic compute nodes in the Space Management. More information. To monitor elastic compute nodes in the System Monitor. More information.

In Tenant Configuration, you can also modify your elastic compute node consumption settings. More information.

Efficiency features

If you are following my news blogs for a while you will have noticed my preference for small features with high impact on developer efficiency in all areas of the product. There are quite a few in July.

Data Preview

You can now use the View as User tool in the Data Viewer panel to review the effects of the data access controls you apply by checking the records that another user will be allowed to see. More information.

Analytic Model

Data Export from Preview
In the data preview of the analytic model, you can now export the data as an Excel or CSV file. This enables you to share the intermediate results with colleagues, and to validate the calculations and measures. More information.

Undo/Redo
When you edit an analytic model, you can now undo or redo your changes. More information.

Diagram Orientation
You can now change the orientation of the layout of the diagram of the analytic model. More information.

Mass renaming of attributes from dimensions (Suffix/Prefix)
You can specify a custom prefix or suffix for the technical name of attributes and do mass renaming. More information.
