Hidden inside Microsoft’s Hardware Lab is one of the quietest rooms on Earth – a room so quiet you can hear your blood pumping, joints creaking and heart beating.
The room is an anechoic chamber, a room designed to prevent any echoes. Every element of the room, from the mesh flooring to the cones covering the walls was intentionally designed to prevent sounds from echoing, resulting in a room that is quieter than the human capacity for hearing.
This state-of-the-art facility was developed to test and measure the sounds produced by Surface Laptop products. Because the room is so quiet, sound engineers are able to detect the faintest sounds to ensure there are no unnecessary or distracting sounds.
