How would it feel to call yourself a certified “Process Management Consultant” or “Process Data Analyst”? And at the same time, have the chance to increase your salary and advance your career?

That’s exactly what I achieved this month! Well… not increasing my salary or advancing my career. I admit, that was a bit clickbaity to get your attention ? (although, honestly, it’s not that far-fetched! You’ll find out what I mean in a moment).

Back to the beginning: I can now indeed call myself an SAP certified “Process Management Consultant” or “Process Data Analyst.” (By the way, you can view my certifications here ?).

I’d like to share my experiences with these certifications with you, and most importantly, explain what you personally can gain from them.

What are SAP Certifications?

First of all… SAP certifications – what exactly are they? SAP certifications are official proofs of specific SAP knowledge. They serve to demonstrate competence in using SAP solutions and to enhance one’s professional profile.

There are various SAP certifications for different solutions and difficulty levels. Some are intended for beginners, while others are for people with a bit more experience.

If you own a certification, it shows: “Hey, I know what I’m doing.” And that not only looks good on your resume – it can also open doors, be it for a new job opportunity, a salary increase, or simply more confidence in what you do.

SAP certifications are available in many different areas, for example, finance modules, sales processes, logistics, or programming. Or, specifically, SAP Signavio, which I will talk about in more detail.

You can get certified in the area that best suits your career. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be an SAP guru to start. There are entry-level options that teach you everything step by step.

Why Should You Get Certified?

Some people are addicted to degrees and certificates, for whatever reason. To boost their self-esteem or show off on LinkedIn, I don’t know. Sorry to everyone else, but that’s what I’ve often observed in my 29 years of life.

In my opinion, that shouldn’t be the motivation to get an SAP certification. But why then? What else speaks in favor of getting an official certificate from a reputable company like SAP, certifying that you are an expert in a specific field?

SAP is the technological heart of many companies. If you know how to use SAP correctly, you become indispensable. Companies are desperately looking for people who are knowledgeable in SAP, and with an SAP certification, you not only show that you have what it takes, but that you also bring real expert knowledge. This gives you a significant advantage in the job market.

It’s particularly helpful when applying for a consulting project or a new job. That’s why my initial clickbait statement, “having the chance to increase your salary and advance your career,” isn’t that far-fetched. You can prove that you know your way around an SAP solution and bring a certain level of expertise.

And – I admit – it can actually be advantageous to showcase on LinkedIn that you possess such certifications.

But it’s not just about jobs and salaries – although that does sound pretty good, right? An SAP certification gives you confidence. You know that you are able to work professionally with this solution is truly valuable.

The certification exam is a challenge to yourself: “Do I really know this field, or do I still have huge gaps in my knowledge? Did I understand what I learned in a course over several days or weeks?”

Yes, an SAP certification is demanding – but that’s exactly the good thing about it! You challenge yourself, expand your comfort zone, and grow beyond yourself.

In the end, an SAP certification not only makes you fit for the job market but also ensures that you feel confident and competent.

Well, have I motivated you enough to get certified for SAP Signavio now?

What certifications are available for SAP Signavio?

At the beginning, I boasted about the great titles I can now call myself ?. I took these names from the descriptions of the two certifications that SAP offers for SAP Signavio:

SAP Certified Associate – Process Management Consultant – SAP Signavio

This certification is for experts who manage business processes with SAP Signavio solutions. It proofs that you have the basic knowledge to manage and design business processes – always with the customer in focus.

SAP Certified Associate – Process Data Analyst – SAP Signavio

This certification is for experts who want to analyze and improve processes using process data. It proofs that you have the necessary basic knowledge to conduct thorough analyses and develop optimization suggestions.

SAP Signavio Learning Journeys – The Perfect Preparation for Your Certification

SAP certifications have such a high reputation because they aren’t just done on the side with tasks you could answer in your sleep.

No, quite the opposite!

Many of the questions in the certification exams are really tough and require extensive preparation so you don’t end up looking like a deer in headlights.

But don’t worry, it’s all doable. I myself passed both certifications on the first try, with not-so-bad results… ?

For each of the certifications, I took several days to work through the free Learning Journeys, take extensive notes, and study. Just like back in university days.

And that was enough! Personally, I didn’t need less preparation, but also not more.

For the Process Management Consultant certification, I worked through the Learning Journey “Managing Business Processes with SAP Signavio Solutions.” It provides a general introduction to Business Process Management, process modeling, and collaboration.

Of course, the course also teaches how to work with individual SAP Signavio solutions such as Process Manager, Collaboration Hub, Process Governance, and Journey Modeler. A special unit is specifically aimed at administrators.

For the other certification as a Process Data Analyst, the Learning Journey “Analyzing Business Processes with SAP Signavio Solutions” was on my syllabus. Very few topics overlapped with what I had previously learned, namely the general introduction to Business Process Management and collaboration.

Then it went straight into Process Mining, working with Process Intelligence as an analyst, and preparatory measures for extracting, transforming, and loading data.

After you learn the powerful query language “SiGNAL,” there’s an introduction to Process Insights with a special focus on Guided Analysis.

Finally, you’ll get a detailed explanation of what the wonderful Plug-and-Gain approach is all about.

If you’re eager to take your SAP Signavio career to the next level and gain a real advantage with a certification, then you should definitely delve deeper into it. It’s an investment of time (and maybe money) in yourself that definitely pays off – and that feels fantastic!
