2025 Canyon Neuron AL 6 Review | This Alloy Trail Bike Is Efficient, Agile & Great Value For Money

The Canyon Neuron has long been the German brand’s most approachable do-it-all trail bike. Sitting in between the lightweight Lux Trail and the bigger travel Spectral, the Neuron aims to strike a balance between pedalling efficiency and riding comfort to create a bike that’s ready for all-day adventures whether you’re a new or experienced mountain biker.

We last tested the Neuron in carbon form back in 2023. That bike impressed us with its sleek frame design, efficient character and well-considered build kit, which as usual for Canyon represented excellent value for money. There were a couple of shortcomings with the spec however, and the large diameter carbon tubing led to a bit more feedback on rough trails than we would have liked.

Since that test we’ve been eager to try out the alloy version of the Neuron. We wanted to see how the metal frame would compare out on the trail, and we were also curious to see what kind of performance Canyon could offer at a cheaper price point. To find out, we took the Canyon Neuron AL to Beechworth in Victoria’s High Country to put it through its paces.
