My top features in March
New Horizon UI-Theme
SAP Datasphere has adopted the SAP standard Horizon theme, which offers a modern and fresh look with a new vibrant color palette. The icons and user interface elements may have changed to adopt this modern design but functionalities of the software remain the same.
Metadata Object Versioning
Object versions have now been introduced for views, analytic models, data access controls, and local tables. New object versions are created automatically at the time of deployment. You can now
list the past versions of objectsopen a past version in read-only mode in a new tabdownload a past version to a CSN/JSON filerestore a past version to replace the current version
Be aware that the saving of an error-free restored version overwrites the current object. It is also important to understand that the versioning happens for the metadata of an object, not the data. More information.
GrandTotal for Calculated Measures
We provide a new function for calculated measures in the analytic model expression editor called GrandTotal. The function GrandTotal calculates the overall sum of a given measure and computes it independent of the current drill state. This function takes one argument – a measure, e.g., GrandTotal(Sales) which then aggregates the value of Sales.
Schedule Task Chains in Local Time Zone
You can now schedule tasks in your preferred region or location time zone next to UTC, which remains the default setting. The schedules will automatically adjust to reflect daylight saving time. This ensures accurate timing for task execution to synchronize with all shared global operations. More information
Folder Navigation
We also made a small UX adjustment to the navigation behaviour around folders. When closing an object now, you will return to last open folder. So far when closing editors, the root folder was always displayed and now the data builder opens the last open folder.
Unlocking SAP BW: Evolving from Legacy to Cloud
This new book I have co-authored together with my colleagues Frank Riesner, Dominik Kurz and Deniz Osoy comes at a perfect time. SAP Business Data Cloud was announced just a few weeks ago and one of it’s components is SAP BW, cloud private edition.
Many customers of SAP BW are elaborating different options at the moment. This book is covering the basics of SAP Business Data Cloud and the new BW modernization journey for existing SAP BW customers. Learn about the different options for your SAP BW environment in combination with SAP Datasphere or SAP Business Data Cloud.
