My top features in August

Transformation Flow: Processing in Batches

You can now break down large transformation flow datasets into batches to avoid out-of-memory (OOM) errors when using the SAP HANA runtime in Datasphere. Defining batches on transformation flows enhances the performance and reliability, while ensuring efficient data integration and processing.

You find this feature in the data integration monitor as it is part of the runtime settings under the Batches tab. Simply pick a suitable column and define the batch sizes in number or records. You can also define to use it only for a large initial load or both initial and delta loads.

New source and targets for Replication Flows

Microsoft OneLake as a Source for Your Replication Flow

You can now use Microsoft OneLake—which was formerly also known as Azure Data Lake Generation 2—, and the corresponding connection type to add sources to replication flows and replicate data in CSV format from the source for initial loads.

➡️  More information.

Cloud Storage Provider SourcesMicrosoft OneLake Connections

SAP Signavio as Target for Your Replication Flows

You can now use connection type SAP Signavio and replication flows to load data from SAP source systems, such as SAP S/4HANA and others, into SAP Signavio as target system. This allows an efficient and scalable data replication into the SAP Signavio solution.

SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Excel

There is a very nice feature new in SAP Analytics Cloud, which I think is super useful for many of you. With the QRC 3 release, you can transfer a table from an SAC story to Excel and further use it with the add-in. In Excel, the transferred table is based on the same data source, for example Datasphere, and has the same navigation state (dimensions, measures in rows and columns, filters, and variables). The idea is to benefit from native Excel capabilities on Datasphere data in real time. You can adjust the report, add custom functions on top of the table, and more.

This course is the first step in a learning path:

Start with the free “Becoming an SAP Data Architect” course in November 2025

Continue with a free advanced course coming early 2026

🏆  Together, they prepare you for a brand-new SAP Data Architect certification in 2026

My favorite blogs in August

Use SAP Business Data Cloud Capacity Estimator

There is a great blog series about the capacity estimator SAP Business Data Cloud, which of course also includes the SAP Datasphere estimator by @FernandaFroelich. Not all blogs are published yet as the series is work in progress, but already a great start:

SAP Business Data Cloud rewiring of existing Datasphere and SAC tenants

My dear colleague @Ammar_Naji has updated his blog on the rewiring option for existing SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud tenants. Very informative and includes all the steps which need to be done.

Open Resource Directory

This is a must read for all SAP Business Data Cloud experts out there:
➡️  Why we created Open Resource Discovery

The Open Resource Discovery (ORD) is the core protocol for application / service metadata publishing and discovery within SAP Business Data Cloud. This blog written by @SimonHeimler explains the concepts behind the scenes and gives you links to resources where you find further details.

SAP Datasphere SQL Navigator browser plugin

SAP Mentor and active community member @kostertim has created a very useful browser plugin to be able to navigate from one SQL view to another by just highlighting the view and using a hotkey combination or browser context menu—avoiding a lot of copy-and-paste efforts. All is described in his blog ➡️  DSP SQL Navigator – Stop copy pasting URLs! And of course the YouTube video:
