Phase 1 of the 25,000-mile global expedition is underway and nothing goes as planned. A quick visit to the van Stralen family’s remote cabin in Canada turns into a fight against shifting weather that makes getting back to the mainland nearly impossible. Along the way, the team gets a crash course in local history and even gets “screeched in” at a Newfoundland bar, Anthony Bourdain style.
After battling the elements, the expedition races toward the easternmost point of North America before turning south. Almost as quickly as it began, Phase 1 is coming to an end with over 6,000 miles of overland travel completed. The trucks must now be prepped and shipped across the Atlantic to England to kick off Phase 2 through Europe.
