Things start going sideways before Phase 3 even begins.
After wrapping up intense medical training stateside, the team meets back up with the trucks in Europe—but Germany doesn’t go as planned. A few unexpected setbacks start stacking up, and suddenly the schedule they’ve been working hard to maintain starts slipping. Not ideal with this much ground left to cover.
With the Toyota trucks prepped and carrying everything needed for what’s ahead, the team pushes forward, crossing into Morocco. A much-needed cool night in the Atlas Mountains offers a brief reset before heading deeper into Africa.
Moving into the Sahara Desert, it’s impossible to ignore the scale of what’s in front of them. Seeing the infamous Mauritania iron ore train up close is a reminder that this continent is a massive stretch of unknowns—and this is only the beginning.
