HIking above the majestic Loch Ness in Scotland – Watch the full film.

In May 2022 I hiked 65-km on the South Loch Ness Trail in the highlands along the majestic Loch in Scotland. Trails were easy, but extremely quite.

I started my hike in Fort Augustus, where I hiked up to Loch Tarff, then down crossing the B862 where I found a quiet camping spot in an old forest along the creek. The second day I followed the route towards Whitebridge and Foyers. The section from Foyers to Inverfarigaig is a beautiful wild trail through the forest, but with limited views of the Loch. From Inverfarigaig there is a long climb on the backside of the hills towards Fair Haired Lad’s Pass, the true highlight of the trail with views of almost the entire length of the Loch. The section downhill from the pass towards the Loch shore is beautiful, with great views of the Loch, and thru forested sections. At reaching the Loch, I pitched my tent on the Loch’s shore. The third day I followed the Loch banks to Dores, then continued the last section over the ridge (without views of the Loch) to the end of the trail just outside Inverness.   Read More Harmen Hoek
