Release announcement: SAP BTP SDK for Android 24.8.0 can now be downloaded

The new version of SAP BTP SDK for Android – version 24.8.0 is now available.

You can download the latest version of the SDK either from the Software Center or the downloads section on develeopers.sap.com

The SAP BTP SDK for Android team brings some exciting new features to you with this new release.

In this blog, we will highlight some of the cool features that come with the new upgrade. To get a detailed overview of all the features released, please visit our user documentation and our API reference documentation.

Highlights

Wizard

With the 24.8 release, the SAP BTP SDK for Android Wizard now supports Android Studio Koala and Android Studio Jellyfish.

Additionally, the Wizard now allows the creation of applications using IAS (Identity Authentication Service) security settings, a feature previously available only on SAP Mobile Services. Developers can now select IAS security settings directly within the Wizard, alongside the existing support for XSUAA.

OData

By upgrading to the 24.8.0’s OData Library, you can start using the $search & $filter OData queries for both online and offline apps. The offline apps are also capable of using OData open type and a single entity type for containment of multuple parent entity sets.

SAP Fiori

Jetpack Compose Controls

By using the 24.8 version, you can now use a Floating Action Button (FAB) using Jetpack Compose. Additionally, you can specify limits and display them in the attachment control.

XML-View Based Controls

You can now integrate third-party scanning solutions into the view based scanning control. Users can select from multiple available scanning solutions, with the added ability to search through these options. Similar to Jetpack Compose, you can define and display limits in the attachment control. You can also add helper text for FilterChip, Choice, DateTimePicker and DurationPicker form cell controls.

SAP Fiori Flows

The SDK now allows customization of the information presented during the sign-in flow. This is particularly useful in multi-user scenarios, where you might want to display customized fields, such as first names, instead of the default IDP-provided username.

SAP Fiori Rollout Session

Additionally, starting with this release, you can register for a more detailed session that will cover all the new capabilities in depth. To join, register for the SAP Fiori for Android & iOS Release Rollout here.
