Upgrade Your Process Mining Skills with the SIGNAL Cookbook

Estimated read time 3 min read

If you’ve already heard of SIGNAL, the SAP Signavio Analytics Language, you probably know that it’s a specialized query language optimized for performing process analysis on large volumes of business process data.

Maybe you’ve already seen examples of SIGNAL’s SQL-like syntax. Perhaps you’ve already written some simple queries and now want to explore deeper, learning how to write more complex code that unlocks the language’s full potential.

If so, then the SIGNAL Cookbook is for you.

The SIGNAL Cookbook is a learning resource for users who already have some basic familiarity with SIGNAL and want to further develop their abilities with the language. It contains a series of examples, each of which you can consider as a recipe showing how SIGNAL can be used to achieve a specific analytical goal. Each recipe builds up a query step-by-step, guiding you carefully through the process of crafting the code and ensuring you understand the result.

These recipes are organized into categories corresponding to typical process analysis activities, such as determining cycle times, process conformance, process variants, or rework. This way, you can use the cookbook not only as a learning resource, but also as a browsable reference guide that contains a rich collection of examples adaptable for your own purposes.

You can find the SIGNAL Cookbook on the SAP Help Portal. And remember: we’ll continue to update the cookbook with additional recipes in the future, so check back regularly. If you think there is a must-know recipe not yet described, leave a comment and you might find it in a future update.
