B2B Integration Factory’s Role and Value Adds in the B2B Cloud Integration journey

Estimated read time 8 min read

Introduction

Following on the B2B Integration Factory – Custom Extensions blog post, I would like to demonstrate how the B2B Integration Factory packages differ from the standard Cloud Integration – Trading Partner Management V2 bundle and how we operate from the backoffice. Further, I also want to emphasize how our B2B Integration Factory service benefit our customers. Lastly, I want to show some features that are already supported by the B2B Integration Factory.

B2B Integration Factory vs Standard TPM bundle

To summarize it in one sentence:
B2B Integration Factory cover requirements and provide possible extensions and custom features that are not covered by the Standard yet. Following image shows how we operate and what we envision:

1. Customer asks for a feature request to B2B Integration Factory. It is either possible via SAP Business Accelerator Hub or via mail to b2bintegrationfactory@sap.com
2. B2B Integration Factory collects and prioritizes the requested features. We also analyze, if this feature request can be realized by integration flow extensions. If not, the B2B Integration Factory refers the feature request to the product development (including priority) with the ask for an estimation and delivery date.
3. Define the details for the feature required and maybe define required custom parameters, which will be used in TPM for the configuration.
4. B2B Integration Factory shows the details of the feature extension to the product development and negotiate on the concepts and custom parameters so that the migration path of the configured data that are required for the feature request are minimal. This will be a contract between the B2B Integration Factory and the product development.
5. Based on the agreements, the B2B Integration Factory informs costumer on the intended concept, when the Factory extension + the standard feature will be delivered.
6. B2B Integration Factory implements the extension into the corresponding B2B Integration Factory packages according the agreements with the product development.
7. B2B Integration Factory publishes a new version of the corresponding B2B Integration Factory packages with new feature at the SAP Business Accelerator Hub à Community Section.
8. B2B Integration Factory informs the customer that new version of the B2B Integration Factory packages with the requested feature is available.
9. Customer downloads the available integration package from the standard or community section accordingly.
10. Product development implements the agreed feature extension into the TPM/IA solution and updates the standard integration package accordingly.
11. B2B Integration Factory adjusts and optimizes the impacted Factory integration flow based on the standard extensions.
12. B2B Integration Factory substitutes the complete corresponding integration flow, if all feature extensions are supported by the standard TPM/IA solution and their corresponding standard integration flow.
13. Product development publishes the updated standard integration package in the Business Accelerator Hub standard section.
14. Customer may substitute the B2B Integration Factory package (provided in the community section) with the standard integration package (provided in the standard section). This can be possible, if all the customer requirements are fulfilled by the standard integration package.

B2B Integration Factory – What are the benefits?

The key assets and value adds of the B2B Integration Factory initiative are:

Fulfilling customer specific B2B requirements at TPM Flow level on demand and in timeReducing time to delivery and ensuring accelerated delivery in B2B migrations/implementations by using scalable generic packages, which can be used across all customersClose linkage to the product development and opportunity to influence and shape the product based on new demands from the customers in timeOperational excellence by using B2B Monitoring which helps to monitor the processing interchanges with the different trading partners and is a crucial point for the company’s businessStaying up to date with new product features being released

B2B Integration Factory – Some already available extensions

Looking at the B2B Integration Roadmap, the red marked features are already supported by the B2B Integration Factory:

Additionally, we are also developing further extensions requested by customers.
Just to name one extension, it is the so called ‘Parking of Messages’
Let’s say the SAP ERP system is down over the weekend. All messages sent to the SAP ERP system should be parked in order to minimize traffic. Once the SAP ERP system is up and running again, the messages should be processed.

Please drop a mail and tell us about the particular B2B requirements that are vital to your business.
