New year – new Eclipse Version for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio

Estimated read time 4 min read

The new year starts with support for a higher version of the Eclipse platform on which SAP Identity Management Developer Studio client can run. Compared to the previously supported Eclipse Oxygen version, the newer Eclipse 2024-09 (4.33) offers significant improvement in performance and smoother user experience. In addition, it offers better protection against potential threats.

As of January 23, 2025, SAP Identity Management Developer Studio client will be available as a plugin for Eclipse version 2024-09. After this date, all patches for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio will be delivered only for this version of the Eclipse platform. The last patch for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio that was released for Eclipse Oxygen is Patch 22 (version 8.8.45). It was released on June 26, 2024 and is available from the SAP Software Download Center. For more information, see Product Availability Matrix.

What if you don’t have enough time for planning and upgrading your IDE version during this time of the year? Don’t worry, you can continue working with your current Eclipse Oxygen version.

However, if you want to take advantage of the newer Eclipse platform version and be able to download and apply the latest patches and fixes for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio, you must update to the newer version.

Perform the following steps:

Download the Eclipse 2024-09 (4.33) edition and install it. We recommend that you choose the package Eclipse IDE for Java Developers during the installation process. For more information, see Upgrading Eclipse.Open the new workspace when prompted.Apply the patch for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio available at SAP Development Tools.Follow the Installation Instructions for SAP Identity Management Developer Studio Plugin. After restarting Eclipse, open your existing Eclipse workspace, which you have been using so far.(Optional) If you would like to use the Check for updates Eclipse feature, add the link to the new Eclipse version as update site and apply the newest SAP Identity Management Developer Studio plugin patches.

Now, you are able to continue your work as before, but with improved performance.

If you encounter any issues after the change is introduced, create a customer case to component BC-IAM-IDM.

Any question or feedback are appreciated!
