SAP RISE – Key Learnings

This Blog is based on my personal experience being involved in a SAP RISE migration project for a customer in UK. 

What is RISE with SAP?

Cloud-based ERP system SAP S/4HANA in public or private cloudCloud-based services and technical support provided by SAPSAP assumes responsibility for system provisioning, hosting in the cloud, and maintenanceMakes use of SAP BTP for collaboration with business partners across interface 

Pre-requisites for RISE with SAP – The following points should minimize any delays with any RISE Migration project. 

You should have a customer specific S-User ID and have authorizations to download S/W from Market Place and are able to raise SR’s, cases and incidents.Make sure the file systems on the Migration Server are sized correctlyEnsure that the Network, firewall changes, ports and authorizations required to access to Migration Server are in place.Check your access to the SAP Share point site where all the passwords will be shared in a secure area.Confirm SAP have created the Application and the DB SID and they do matchEnsure that the required file system storage space (SUM, additional Backup’s, Export/import)  is calculated correctly prior to the start of the migration/conversion.Confirm correct Database sizing has been provided to SAPConfirm SAP have created the Application and the DB host that match the same time zoneAdd-On Compatibility – Align with 3rd Party add-on compatibility and remove obsolete Add-on’s before starting the migrationUse the latest SUM tool and check for issues that might affect the migration timelinesRISE project is delivered via ticketing system via the SAP support portal. Make sure the shared responsibility model between SAP, Migration Partner and the Customer  are agreed prior to project kick-off.

Summary

The above pre-requisites were noted for the SAP RISE migration scenario using System copy and S4 upgrade options.
