With the launch of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), the Data Catalog and the Data Marketplace tabs in SAP Datasphere are being consolidated under a single tab, called ‘Catalog & Marketplace’.
This change becomes available with release 2025.05 and aims to streamline governed access to data products and assets.
The unified search and discovery functionality enables users to quickly find and access relevant data products and assets across all connected data sources and mark selected ones as favorite. Search results can be narrowed by collection, filtering for assets, data providers, terms, KPIs, favorites, and recently viewed data products and assets. Recently added categories include ‘Marketplace Data Products’ and ‘SAP Business Data Cloud Data Products’.
The new tab also hosts the newly introduced ‘Marketplace Data Product’ page, which includes the former ‘My Data Product’ page (renamed as ‘Data Products’), the ‘My Licenses’ page (renamed as ‘Access’), as well as the former ‘My Context’ page (renamed as ‘Visibility’).
By combining these functionalities, the new ‘Catalog & Marketplace’ tab delivers several benefits:
Streamlined Access: Users now have a single point of entry for all their data needs, making it easier to find and utilize data products and assets.Enhanced Oversight: With all governance and lineage functionalities integrated, users have better control and visibility over their data.Accelerated Innovation: A unified experience allows for faster data discovery and collaboration, driving innovation across the enterprise.
This empowers both technical and non-technical users to utilize trusted data, fostering data democratization across the enterprise and paving the way for the new data product economy.
Notably, the Data Sharing Cockpit remains accessible via the usual navigation entry, where users can handle data product definitions, licensing, and context as they typically do.
