Motivation:
Customers are now planning a journey for the S/4HANA transformation by converting their SAP ECC systems before being out of maintenance on December 31, 2027. Since this conversion is not simple and is described for each area in a different place, it is time-consuming to search for all relevant information.
Therefor SAP introduced helpful assistant called ATACA – ASU Toolbox Application Conversion Assistant.
In this blog you will find most important information of the assistant and how to use it.
Description:
ASU Toolbox Application Conversion Assistant (ATACA) contains all the information that is not already available in existing SAP S/4 HANA conversion tools, such as guidelines, check tools, migration tools, and SAP Notes to help you convert your system from SAP ERP to SAP S/4 HANA in the most efficient way. ATACA doesn’t replace already existing best practices or tools and is SAP application-specific, unlike standard technical conversion guidelines.
ATACA supports the conversion through frequently updated content. This content is a list of execution steps
that are processed within the ATACA during the conversion. As described in SAP Note 3008338, the content
is provided by SAP in the form of an XML file (ASU content).
Benefits:
Conversion costs and time needed are reduced to a minimum.
Avoiding of known bugs during the conversion.
Single point of entry for all kind of information that helps to understand the difference to SAP S/4HANA.
Uploading ASU Content and Creating Task Lists
To generate a task list within ATACA for a system conversion, you must upload the initial ASU content to the
ATACA in the source release, import (1) the content and create (2) task list. Then, you can jump directly into the task list (3).
The tasks in the list are divided to information about the ATACA itselfs and then to 3 main parts – Preparation, Follow-Up and Customer Conversion Steps.
Each part is split to the Important (mandatory) and Additional (optional) Application Information for each application component. Each application component contains activities/tasks which are recommended to do.
From the task list, you can open particular note on the Marketplace or open SNOTE assistant and implement the note directly.
After processing of the steps mentioned in the note, web page, etc., you can set the status of the task to have overview, how the task ends.
