Solving the ServiceInstanceName Dilemma: Token-Forwarding Destinations on SAP BTP with init_data

We hit a snag configuring SAP BTP destinations to simply forward authorization tokens (forwardAuthToken: true). Our initial attempt with the GACD module failed, demanding an unexpected ServiceInstanceName. This post explains why the GACD module’s design led to this error and presents the correct solution: defining these “NoAuthentication” destinations directly via the init_data configuration in your mta.yaml. We provide practical examples and clarify how destination service instances are managed and merged across multiple MTA deployments, offering a clearer path for robust SAP BTP integrations.
