The new format of World Cup Downhill mountain bike racing is really messing with racers’ heads. Protected riders in years past had less pressure than their fellow, battling counterparts. In 2025, with new qualifying rules and no rider being automatically escorted into finals based on past merits, veteran pros are struggling to make it to race day while younger talent is making the show with break-through performances.
In Leogang, Austria, we follow Lachie Stevens-McNab (Trek Factory Racing), Danny Hart (Norco Factory Racing) and Finn Iles (Specialized Gravity) throughout the weekend to learn how they setup their bike, learn lines in practice and handle successes and failures against fellow competitors and the clock.
