The most stressful and challenging race of the year for any professional downhill mountain biker is World Championships. It’s the competition where a single run down the mountain can make or break a career. Some riders thrive in the high-intensity environment while others struggle to crack the code of success. John Lawlor follows Antoine Pierron, Benoit Coulanges and Aaron Gwin through the 2025 World Champs weekend in Champery, Switzerland where an extremely steep and unforgiving track is the nemesis of both bike and rider. The unique track means that bike setup is crucial for maximizing tenths of a second during the descent and not every rider gets that setup right.
