Due to the large number of customers relying on SAP NetWeaver BW 7.5 systems and SAP BW/4HANA, integration with SAP Datasphere was and still is key also under the new SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) product.
With SAP BDC it is even easier to leverage existing BW installations and it’s artifacts like an InfoOnject, an Advanced DataStore Object, a CompositeProvider or an Query as an Infoprovider. With the “Data Product Generator for BDC” as part of the SAP BW(/4 HANA) Administration Cockpit of the BW(/4HANA (PCE) instance which is part of Business DataCloud. There is also a possibility to have a PCE instance of SAP BW 7.5 as part of SAP BDC.
As-Is situation
Until the general Availability (currently planned with SAP BDC Wave 2025.14) of SAP BDC there were (and still are) different ways to integrate data from SAP Netweaver BW 7.5 or SAP BW/4HANA.
In general, the following integration options are available to integrate SAP BW data and metadata:
Local Tables via Replication Flow or Data Flow using the Cloud ConnectorRemote Tables (optional: snapshot) using DP AgentRemote Tables incl. semantics and dependencies (optional: snapshot) via BW/4 Model Transfer using DP Agent and Cloud Connector for SAP BW/4HANARemote Tables incl. semantics and dependencies via BW Bridge using Cloud Connector for SAP BW 7.5
The following Documentation shows the procedure to generate Data Products with the BW Data Product Generator via BW Administration Cockpit and via Eclipse Scenario Generator.
