In this talk, Daniele explores how a simple question about photographic film reveals systemic flaw in modern technology and design. From Kodak’s mid-century “”Shirley cards,”” to modern facial recognition algorithms and medical devices, the tools we use everyday are often built with a default setting that leaves underrepresented groups in the dark.
