I test the newly released Kimi K3 weights against Claude Opus 5 on a single long-horizon task: generating a fully explorable 3D world from one reference image using an orchestrator with multiple sub-agents. I run the exact same prompt inside Cline (an open-source agent harness with IDE/CLI/SDK options) using high reasoning effort, paste in the reference image, and review Kimi K3’s iterative checkpoints as it refines visuals, physics, interactions, and scene accuracy (like pulling buildings closer and improving materials and wheel details). I also show Cline’s visibility into sub-agent roles and status, mention Cline Pass access to open models like Kimi K3 and GLM 5.2, and conclude Kimi K3 is a strong workhorse open model, while Opus 5/Fable 5 still lead for design-heavy results.
